What Causes Muscles Weakness And Knee Pain While On Atorvastatin?

I ve been taking Atorvastatin 40mg for about 10 years. I noticed muscle weakness but not enough to talk to my doctor about. Now within the last year, I have arthritius like pain in my knees and calve muscles. It is getting bad and I m having trouble walking. Can get a good nights sleep and wake up like I have been exercising all night. Didn t know if this could have something to do with this medication. I play golf twice a week, but now the walking is getting harder to do. Will call me primary tomorrow to have him look at all my medication

Atorvastatin can cause pain in muscles know as myalgia. I am more concerned about the pain in your calf muscles. I would suggest you to get CPK levels done. Based on CPK levels, we can take a call on continuing the atorvastatin.
Apart from statin induced myopathy, we can also look for any vitamin D deficiency and if present Vitamin D supplementation helps in reducing the muscle symptoms.
Hope the above information helps you. Thanks a lot.
