What Causes Muscle Pain And Weakness In The Legs, Hips And Back?

I have been a patient at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN. I am frustrated with time they have taken on diagnosing me. They think that I may have Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia. Which also runs in my family. I have been on Baclofen for about a year now, 30 mlgs.a day, and my symptoms are getting worse. I m waiting to see my Nurologist. Have been for over six months now. I feel like a number and that they just don t care. In lots of muscle pain and weakness in my legs, hips and back.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is neurological disorders, which cause progressive weakness and spasticity in the lower extremities.

Usually, this medical condition is treated with Baclofen which is a muscle relaxant.

In case you continue to have symptoms, I suggest to use Diazepam.

I suggest regular exercise and a healthy diet.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
