What Causes Muscle Pain After Taking Shingles Vaccination?

I had a shingle shot on April 27th. I have terrible muscle pain and limited range of motion. When I was given the shot it was more then painful. Now o have to take pills for the pain. What is my next step. I ve already let my doctor know. I ve been told it the needle may have hit a nerve. What do I do now, who can I go to? Thank you, Gayle

Shingles vaccination is via intramuscular route. Intramuscular injection may really be painful and will continuously hurt even after the injection since the medicine is slowly being absorbed through the muscles surrounding the site of injection. This is natural. But if the pain does not subside in more than 48 hours, then you must have this checked. You may take Acetaminophen for the pain for the mean time.
