Hi,

Multiple lymph nodes in the axilla can be due to many causes, which we need to evaluate. The causes can be INFECTIONS ( bacterial or viral infections ) that usually cause the lymph nodes to be tender (painful)and is associated with fever.

Lymph nodes in the axilla are usually caused by an infection related to arm or chest or breast.

So we need to look for infections at the local site ( check for any swelling in the arm, hand or any history of trauma or injury at theses sites, ) sometimes using hair removing creams, waxing, using razors at these sites can also lead to infections and subsequently lymph nodes enlargement.

Besides there are other systemic diseases that need to be ruled out- tuberculosis, lymphoma.( there are so many fancy names for it. do not want to scare you with this ).

See basically my advice would be not to worry or panic, just get yourself properly checked and investigated. it is important because your problem is persisting even after a course of antibiotics.

A thorough clinical history and general physical examination are needed to form a diagnosis and plan the treatment.I can suggest some investigations like complete blood count, ESR, CRP, chest xray .

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Milinda Gupta
