What Causes Muffled Hearing At Higher Altitudes?

I went up the mountain yesterday and I couldn t get my left ear to pop. Now my ear feels like it is full of water. It is making the sound like when you have water in your ear. I can t get it to pop. I have tried everything. This happened yesterday. Help.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of muffled hearing at higher altitudes which occur due to many reasons like ear canal dermatitis , which is a kind of allergic reaction or otitis media ( ear infection ), it could be due to allergic reaction and eustachian tube dysfunction. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take ear antibiotics oral as well as ear drops, painkiller like Ibuprofen, decongestant nasal sprays and pus drainage from the ear can help in faster clearing of infection. Consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may examine ear with otoscope , order certain test like allergy test , CT scan and blood tests to rule out ear infection . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics , corticosteroid ear drops and anti inflammatory .
