What Causes Mucus In The Stool?

I have mucus in my stool. I recently got off of pencillin. I am constipated as well. I have a lose of appetite and I hear a lot of growling sounds thoughout my stomach area. It was so loud at one point, I could hear it in my sleep. My poop are like little circle balls. I had a regular large BM, nice and long, a while ago. Will this cure by itself?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Mucus in the stool likely suggests intestinal infection. Constipation is causing the appearance of the stool the way you described.

You had penicillin recently so all together I would advise you to wait for a couple of days.

Make sure you include food in your diet that has fibres in it. If constipation persists visit your doctor, if necessary he will advise you stool softening syrup which should relieve constipation and bring the bowel movements back to normal.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
