What Causes Mouth Ulcers?

Hey I've been getting mouth ulcers for a while to the point where I have to take off from work. They usually last about three weeks and then go away. The doctors were never able to tell what they were even though they took blood samples. I just want to know what are they and can i eliminate them from my body

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand..

As per your complain it seems that you have recurring apthous stomatitis leading to recurring apthous ulcers,
It can occur due to a number of causes like deficiency of iron and vitamin B12, stress, dry mouth, allergic reaction, hormonal changes, acid reflux etc..
Many a times apthous ulcers can also occur without any specific underlying cause..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and after a proper clinical examination and investigations as per suspected cause can help in diagnosis..
The apthous ulcers that are non-responsive to other treatment are finally treated with steroids..
As of now you can do warm saline gargles, gargle with a numbing mouthwash conatining lignocaine especially at meals to prevent discomfort, take a multivitamin tablet daily for atleast months, suck ice, avoid spicy foods and drink plenty of cool water..
In case if you do not get relieved you will be advised steroids in a tapering dose under supervision of a trained oral physician..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
