What Causes Mouth Ulcers?

Hi, about one or twice a year I will get a crop of canker sores in my mouth. Seems like they usually start after I eat something salty or spicy or if I damage the tissue with a sharp chip or something. This last time I cut a small area under my tongue. Then a few days later the saliva glands under the tongue turned red, then a few days later white. A few days after that they were better. About the same time I bit my upper lip. That developed a canker sore. Since then a red like circular ring has appeared with what looks like small canker sores within the ring. The same thing happened about 2 years ago. After a week or two everything healed. Any idea what this is all about?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

It looks like you have a cheek bite lesion leading to red inflamed mucosa and along with it there is also eruption of sores secondary to inflammation..
I would suggest you to start applying steroid ointment like Triamcinolone Acetonide along with numbing gel containing Lignocaine..
You can also do warm saline gargles..
Take a Vitamin B complex supplement daily..
Avoid spicy and irritant foods and also avoid hard foods..
Do cool compresses over the area..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
