What Causes More Hair On Legs In Children?

I have a seven year old son who is 64lbs and 52 /12 inches. His father is 6'8". My son has more hair than most boys his age on his legs but nowhere else. He looks like an 8 or 9 year old next to his classmates. I recently noticed his arm pits are smelly. Is this normal? I have started using natural deodorant for him.
