What Causes Moles And Skin Tags On The Shoulder, Calf And Back?

I have noticed a mole I have had on my shoulder for several years changing, shape, color, etc. I have also developed some other places on my leg (above calf) and bag. I know a few on my back are something else my doctor told me not to worry about. I have also started to experience skin tags, on high on my right leg close to groin area. Could these be skin cancer?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Moles are due to the accumulation of melanocytes in one place.

Usually, moles are benign and not at all cancerous unless we find any unusual borders, change in color, growth in size and change in shape.

Skin tags are also normal commonly found in fat persons. Skin tags are not cancerous.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. TALARI PAUL,
