What Causes Missed Periods, Spotting With Negative Result In Pregnancy Test?

I had my last period on 16th of March. Somwhere towards the end of march I had sex with my husband without protection. I took an i pill (emergency contraceptive pill) within 24 hours. I had spotting on 11th of April, almost around the same time when my period was due. But there were no regular periods . Again on 23rd of April ,there was spotting and cramping and felt like period was coming. But no. I did home pregnancy tests many tine during these days and all came out negative. I visited doctor and got blood hch test done which also turned out negative. So she told me to wait for one more week and then to take primolut N tablet. I waited and periods did not come . Started primolut N on 9th of May. 2 tablets each for 3 days. Last tablet was on 11th May. It has been 6 days till the last one, still no period. There was cramping for 2,3 days after the last tablet. What should I do? I am tensed like anything. My periods had been so regular. Recently, I had gained a bit weight too.. But the weight gain was gradual and happened over a series of months when I stopped breastfeeding my first baby. Also I had been exercising since past few months. Not strenous ones.Only regular workouts.Could all these have affected my periods?? Should I consult a doctor now or should I wait?

Hello There

After going through your medical query I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that it is very common to have irregular periods after taking contraceptive pills, but don't worry and wait for periods to come.

Hopefully this information will guide you properly.

Kind Regards
Dr Bhanu Partap
