What Causes Milk Products To Smell Sour Always?

I am a 52 year old female. 6 years post hysterectomy. No Ovaries. I am on meds for depression and antiflamattories for severe shoulder tendinitis (both sides). Recent MRI suggested possible anemia due to dark bone marrow appearance. Starting a few days ago I smell all milk as sour. Even cheese. My family insists the milk is NOT sour so it has to be me. I have quit all milk products to avoid the smell.

Hi,

Yes indeed, it is you that has a perception of sour smell to any milk products. There is no specific cause that can be certainly connected to such alteration in smell.

But it is still a better idea to consult an ENT Surgeon to get the nose inspected by endoscopy and CT scan of the base of skull, nose and sinuses to rule out any organic cause and get treated accordingly.

It is good that you stopped all the milk and milk products. Wait and watch is the policy.
