And much of high school and college was binge drinking. Recently I ve had a dull back ache and I am concerned I damaged my organs from drinking too much over the previous weekend. How likely is it that I am already I am already developing liver or kidney problems?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you are suffering mild back pain and rinking excess alcohol. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like muscle or ligament strain , ruptured disks , arthritis , scoliosis or osteoporosis. Alcohol as no cause cause back pain directly , but sometimes back pain symptoms appear in people having pancreatitis due to excess alcohol . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon . Doctor may order CT scan or MRI of back . Doctor may recommend physical therapy , prescribe muscle relaxant along with anti inflammatory. Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist for pancreatitis . For now quit alcohol, apply warm compresses to back and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
