What Causes Micropenis?

My son is 8 years old and his penis has not seem to grown at all since he was born. He is overweight a little but I don t know what to do or what doctor to take him to. Is this a hormone problem that a testosterone shot may fix? Please help me because my mom and stepdad are worried too.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Micropenis may be caused by a defect anywhere along the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, a defect in peripheral androgen action, isolated growth hormone deficiency, a primary structural anomaly, or may be part of a genetic syndrome.

But it is important to get your son examined thoroughly by a paediatrician before coming to any conclusion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma,
