What Causes Metallic Taste In Mouth?

I have a horrible metallic taste in my mouth. I recently had tooth extraction on lower molar and I had a full bridge with about 6 real teeth and full upper bridge. I had a root resorption problem with one upper tooth and the periodontist cut the bridge right at the eye tooth to back of mouth, so the bridge is still attached to the rest of my upper jaw. Now I have a horrible taste on the side where the bridge remains, could he have loosened the bridge while sawing away and removing the actual tooth..he the dentist has no answers for me, its such a bad taste

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern....

As per your complain if you had a bridge with metal inside and ceramic layer on the top [Porcelin fused to metal type of bridge] and if the bridge is cut down then there are chances that the metal layer is exposed on the side where it was cut leading to taste of the exposed metal in the mouth..
This can cause a heavy metallic taste in mouth and the other thing that I would like to tell you that this procedure to removed some portion of bridge while some still remaining in the mouth is not a orrect practice and you should consult a PROSTHODONTIST in this regard as he is an expert in crown and bridges and will evaluate well and do the needful as I suppose you may need to get the bridge changed with a new one..

Hope this information helps..
