What Causes Metallic Taste And Body Odor While On Antibiotics For Multiple Sclerosis?

I have MS. I take and have taken many types of pain medications and for hbp, bowel irregularity, steroids, swelling and have received both yearly rounds of Lemtrada chemo for MS. A few months ago, I noticed an extremely oily feel to my skin. My swelling worsened to the point of MD putting me on a fluid pill. I had rotator cuff surgery in January. Now, my upper body has become covered with blisters that dran then turn into sores. I have new ones every few days. Due to insurance requirements and accidentally missing an appt with my dermatologist, I still don’t have a diagnosis. Blood and urine tests show no imbalances or infection. A round of antibiotics and 14 days of yeast meds made no difference. I smell an odor on my skin. A metallic taste in my mouth. The yeast meds controlled that until I finished them. Then those 2 things came back. I have researched until I’m cross eyed. My MD saw no reason for concern with my kidneys. I had a kidney stone a few years ago. No culture or biopsy has been done. The dermatologist is the only one that will do it. My neurologist doesn’t know what it is. Nor my MD. Any ideas?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per my clinical experience, the reason for skin blisters can be varying from immune mediated response to others.

The metallic taste of mouth is due to side effect of antibiotic therapy.

The body odor can be from altered skin homeostasis from various issues.

Hope this information will fulfill your doubts. Do not hesitate to clarify further.
