What Causes Menstrual Bleeding To Be Prolonged And Heavy?

Good morning doctor. I ve been experiencing constant prolonged and heavy menstruation. I saw a cheif gynecologist in my country who recommended Primolut Norethisterone 5mg.I started it and the signs stopped. One week + I started another round of menstruation. Doctor, is this normal? I m very week and tired even to do a little work. Help me doctor. Thanks

Hi, I think you should have continued the norethisterone tablet in a low dose. Otherwise bleeding will happen again after stopping the tablet. So, this might have been the reason of getting periods again. Also do a thyroid profile and prolactin level and a ultrasound to see the uterus and ovaries. It can be due to some thyroid disorder or polycystic ovarian syndrome. You may need some hormonal treatment. Hope it helps.
