What Causes Memory Loss In Old Age?

Hello. I have a question about my grandfather. He really cannot remember his past and showing him pictures does not help. He's 86 years old and he had a stroke when he was in his 70s. What should I do to help him?

I'm not allowed to pay online. What do you suggest?

Hi,
It appears to be dementia. There are numerous causes of dementia and most common is Alzheimer's disease.
You can meet a neurologist or a psychiatrist to get a mental examination done to evaluate the stage of dementia.
Based on stage, appropriate drug therapy like cholinesterase inhibitors can be started. Drugs help in improving your grandfather memory and make his life comfortable.
As dementia progresses, behavior and psychological disturbances can also occur agitation, depression, sleep disturbances or inability to manage themselves.
Do meet your doctor to get him evaluated.

If you have any further queries, happy to help again.
