What Causes Memory Loss After A Head Injury?

My husband turned 80 he was alittle forgetful before he fell has bleeding on his brain his bleeding is stable now and all vital signs are good been on respirator for 9 days but won t do commands and has eyes shut most of the time can,t get him more alert

By your history and description, possibility of intracranial heamorrhage is more likely. This kind of hemorrhage is space occupying lesion in brain. It actually compresses brain tissue. This in turn causes loss of neurons (brain cells). This is the reason for memory loss and coma. It takes at least 3-4 weeks for neurons regeneration. This regeneration process might not 100%. So there is high possibility that he might forget some memories permanently.
