What Causes Mediastinal And Hilar Lymphadenopathy?

My friend was recently diagnosed with Hilar Mediastinal LNPHTHY, Bronchovascular Reticulonodularn Opacities, and Worrisome Sarcoidosis. He is a 55 yr. old non-smoker, non- drinker or drug use. He worked in a steel plant for 20 years. Explain his diagnosis and could chemical exposure from this job cause his current lung condition?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The exact cause of sarcoidosis is not known. But it seems to be over immune reaction to an unknown substance. Chemical exposure, virus, bacteria can trigger overimmune response. The steroid, immunosuppressant drugs can help in sarcoidosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
