I was getting tattooed the other day on the lower part of the back of my neck and I was not sitting properly, causing a great deal of strain on my neck. Now I have 2 lumps on the upper part of my neck in two different spots (no where near the tattoo) and the smaller lump is starting to really hurt. I have also been getting some serious headaches for the past two days. I have had these lumps going on 4 days now and they seem to be getting larger the more I sit at my work desk. I am very worried and unfortunately not medically insured... what could this be and should I go to an emergency room ?
The symptoms suggest possibility of infective etiology - painful lumps. Other possibilities are lymph nodal enlargement ( can be due to recent procedure nearby region can cause inflamatory changes). To confirm one of those an ultrasoun scan is indicated.
The scan will help us to know the source of the lesion, its extentions and nature of the lesion ( solid, cystic, mixed) if necessary needle sample to confirm cells. Good luck.
