What Causes Lumps On The Labia Minora?

I have developed several pimple-like bumps on my labia area, and they look like black heads. They are not painful, but at times they sort of rub the wrong way while i am sitting. I ve had them for about a month and they don t seem to be going away. Might they be ingrown hairs, or should i be worried? Any advice?

Dear lady,
Your conern about these black spots is absolutely valid. Actually, labia minora doesnot have hair, so the possibility of ingrown hair is not possible. this most probably looks like infection. since there is no oozing or itch, viral or bacterial infection is not a possibility. most likely you are suffering from a fungal infection, that is usually chronic in its nature. it is advisable that:
1. you undergo a battery of blood tests like complete blood counts, hemoglobin, blood sugar and lipid profile.
2. get a culture and sensitivity testing of urine and smear of the affected site done.
3. pls see a gynaecologist and start a course of antifungals as per your suitability.

get well soon!
Regards,
Dr. Sonia
