What Causes Lump On The Caesarean Section Incision Site?

I had sculpsure procedure 6 weeks ago I Rochester. Heat activated procedure to kill stubborn belly fat over a period of 12 weeks. I have had three cesareans 35 years ago, and the incision was vertical, not horizontal. Now I have noticed after this heat procedure I have a 2 inch or more lump next to the scar tissue from the cesarean that now bulges and is hard. Should I wait for the next six weeks to see if this lump will dissolve?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* There can be a various issue for 2-inch lump after the surgery of belly fat as

- hematoma formation
- collection of pus or infective material
- stich granuloma if vicryl or other absorptive suture material was used
- use of extensive cauterization to burn fat leading to tissue ischemia and necrosis
- incisional hernia at previous surgical scar (not a sequence of current procedure )

* The best way of evaluation consists of ultrasound of the local part with all precise details of soft tissue, any collection, wall defect if present or not. Would like to hear from you further as per the need.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
