What Causes Lump On The Back Of Tongue Along With Sore Throat?

I have an appt set up two weeks from now but was just wondering what I can do now to help. I have had a sore throat for the past three weeks. I was congested with cough. I have been on nose drops which gave me bloody noses. Then the doctor put me on a five day antibiotic course. During this time the sore throat dissipated but has since returned. I also have a large bump on the very back left side of my tongue.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a sore lump on the back of tongue along with a recent history and presently linerging symptoms of sore throat and cough and congestion that seems to be due to viral infection..
Therfore the lump on tongue can be due to causes like inflamed Circumvallate papilla, Pyogenic granuloma, abscess formation die to infection etc..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now you can start gargling with warm saline solution..
Do antiseptic mouthwash gargles..
Take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
Chew a Vitamin C pellet daily..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods and drink plenty of arm water..
Maintain a good oral hygiene..
