Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Lump In Kneecap After A Knee Fracture?
9 months ago, I tripped and fell onto my knee in a car park. I immediately realised I had split it open. I went to the school nurse and had it cleaned and bandaged. I could make out bone and was at first worried but I was told I d be fine so I just got on with it. For the first few days I found it incredibly hard to walk without being in a lot of pain. The wound healed and I could walk fine. But not long after the wound had healed a bony lump developed on my kneecap where I fell. I can t kneel on it I can t bend down without being in pain and I can t bend my knee in a position for any period of time because it hurts. I am very sporty and this often gets in the way of things. I would like to know what you think it is and if there is any treatment.
Dear Sir/Madam I have gone through your query and read your symptoms. In my opinion, you need to get X rays done so as to see the condition of your patella, the knee cap bone, moreover there is a possibility that your patella would have had some fracture, and what you feel now is callus as a result of healing of the bone. I hope that answers your query. If you want any more clarification, contact me back. Thanks
