What Causes Lumbar Back Pain Along With Frequent Urination?

Hello, I m a 21 year old female, who recently have been using the bathroom very frequently. I ve always had a bad habit of holding in urine for too long. When I was 11 years old, the doctor told me (and I had several exams performed) that indicated that my abdomen was leaking fluid. Recently (for the past month), I ve been having to urinate a lot, especially at night when I lay down. I would not drink anything before I go to sleep and would urinate right before I go to sleep. Like about half an hour to an hour later while laying in bed, I would have the urge to go to the bathroom, and it s usually a normal/large volume of urine. I would wake up at least 4 times a night to use the bathroom. When laying flat down in bed, I would also feel some gurgling either in my abdomen of somewhere else; I ve been having severe lumbar back pain too. I wonder if it has anything to do with my kidneys. I plan to see a urologist soon. I just don t have any idea what I m experiencing; neurogenic bladder, infection, spastic bladder? Thank you

Hello,

Frequent urination along with back pain in the lumber area indicates presence of urinary tract infection or kidney stones.

It is good that you have already taken urologist' s appoinent. After the physical exam, you might ave to go for blood and urine analysis to reach specific diagnosis. To diagnose, kidney stones, ultrasonography will be required. Based on the test results, antibiotics, painkillers and treatment for stones if present will be advised.

If you will start drinking a lot of fluids, it will help you in infection and stones, both. I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon!

Best,
