What Causes Lowering Of BP After A Work Out?

I am 41, about 30lbs over weight. I have exercised all my life, and have had periods of time when i got all the weight off, but then gained the 30 lbs back. I have jogged all my life as well, although remaining somewhat over weight still. My question. about 2 years ago when i weight 250, my bp was 140/90 I lost down to 199 and bp fell to 120/75. Now i am back to 230 and started exercising again and I have noticed that my bp before workout will be 135/85 and immidately after workout usually 121/65. Why is this happening. PS- my dad died at 53 of corinay heart diesase, and he also had very high bp. He was on meds. for his bp, I dont take meds for bp and dont consider my bp high. Can you help with this question. thanks.

Thank you for your question! I understand your concern; you have heredity for coronary disease; and actually in the high normal level of BP; in order to lower your risk profile for future cardiac events you have to fight a bit against cardiac risk factor; first of all to mantain as much as you can your body near ideal weight (this will resolve your high BP tendency and the risk for future diabetes); avoid smoking; have a healthy diet (mediterranean one), and check your blod lipid profile. All of these could help to mantain a low risk profile level for future cardiac events.
Hope to have been helpful to you. Greetings. Dr.Iliri
