Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Ive started working out for about a month now. Every time i fast walk, run, or walk up hill my left lower leg hurts. It feels like its the bone. Tonight the pain hit once again, this time almost unbearable. I then noticed a lump a few inches above my ankle. I had been walking on the treadmill for about 6 mins at a pace of 3.5 slightly inclined. The lump slowly disappeared once i stopped and just walked around the gym slowly, but the pained lingered for quite some time.
Your symptoms may be due to ischemia (less blood supply) of the legs which do not meet the needed blood during exertion/exercise. Treatment of the cause like hypertension, diabetes or dyslipidemia if any is to be done. Exercises of lower limbs particularly of calf muscles to increase the blood supply of calf muscles will be definitely beneficial in your case.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
