What Causes Low Urine Output While On DDAVP?

My son is on 0.1 ddavp twice a day. His urine output is less and has had seizures. Two days in a row he was reaching for or asking for ice or water and by the time we bring it to him he stares and goes into seizures. What do we do? He has had two brain tumor surgeries. 2011 and 2015. Craniopharyngioma. MRI has been stable since second surgery.

Hi,

I would explain that his symptoms could be related to an inappropriate dose of ddavp. For this reason, I recommend discussing with his attending physician about this. I would recommend checking kidney function tests and a urine analysis. Regarding the seizures, starting anti-epilepsy drugs is necessary.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka
