General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, potassium levels can be altered due to variety of endocrine and other metabolic causes however in your case, concomitant magnesium and phosphorus levels should also be checked which can also cause low potassium. Urinary potassium and urinary pH studies may also be needed to evaluate the cause. Meanwhile keep replacement continued as these levels are dangerously low of below 2.8.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
