What Causes Low GFR Level While Suffering From Pancreatic Insufficiency?

I recently had an abdominal CT scan for what my gastro dr. diagnosed as pancreatic insufficiency. He said the CT scan showed nothing significant regarding the pancreas, but my OB/GYN noted a slight fullness of the adrenal glands on the CT report when I was there for an annual exam recently It was also noted that on my recent lab work that my GFR is somewhat low at 68? What does this mean? Can they be related?

Hi,

f you do not have any features related to kidney failure(edema, low urine output, high blood pressure, elevated serum creatinine or urea), this need not be worried much. Although GFR is normally above 90 in healthy individuals, anything above 60 is accepted in elders above 60 years of age.

So if no suggestive symptoms and blood urea/creatinine are normal, nothing to worry. Just be sure that your blood pressure and blood sugar are maintained normally, to avoid worsening of renal function. Adrenal fullness is unlikely related to the GFR elevation.
