What Causes Loss Of Voluntary Movement In Finger Post Injury?

a week ago today, I broke up a fight between 3 7th grade girls. have gone to industrial clinic (workers comp). my right ring finger won t move from middle to top joint. I can move it with my other hand, but not on its own. x-ray showed no fracture. am now in pt, still no movement. they want me to do another week of pt. should I bite bullet and go see a hand specialist on my own?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It seems to be trauma to local motor nerve. You should consult a neurophysician. Addition of specific medication would have a better recovery.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
