What Causes Loss Of Taste Buds While Suffering From Alzheimer S Disease?
I am elderly and have been diagnosed with Alzheimer s. I have now lost my taste buds. I can taste HOT and Cold. If someone put something across my eyes, and gave me three bites of thre different flavors of ice cream I would know it was ice cream but not the flavor. What causes some people to lose their tastebuds?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of loss of taste buds while suffering from Alzheimer s disease which seems to be due to dementia due to which you are not able to perceive tastes and recognize as you once before. It is due to age related changes as well. I would suggest you to change your eating habits and preferences as per need as you must have craving for heavy foods and sweets and flavoured food. I would suggest you to take diet rich in proteins and vegetables. Maintain hygiene and keep your normal food course and visit neurologist/ oral physician if any symptoms keeps o persisting. Drink plenty of fluids.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
