What Causes Loss Of Smell And Taste With Strange Tingling In Mouth-lips?

I have a loss of smell and taste with strange tingling mouth-lips. My RA Dr. thinks I have a bleed because of a low hematocrit/hemoglobin count. He has discontinued my rituxan infusion until the source is found. I had a clipped CVA brain bleed in 2000. I also had a bleeding ulcer. I have had no unusual bleeding. I only had a few small nose bleeds. I don t snort anything. I did have a long problem with a runny nose. I took a few O TC pills

Understanding your concern. As per your query loss of smell and taste with strange tingling in mouth-lips is because of low level of iron level and low iron absorption in body and due to hypoparathyroidism. This causes low level of calcium in blood due to which parasthesia or pricking sensations occur. Tingling sensation can start even after rest or it could be due to certain stimulus. It could be due to nerve damage such as facial nerve damage as well. In certain cases it resolves its own and do not last for much time. Take calcium rich tablet till them, your symptoms will get resolve soon. I would suggest you not to worry about it, visit your doctor and get your labs done. You should monitor calcium and potassium levels. Once proper diagnosis is made start treatment.
