What Causes Loss Of Sense To Urination In An Elderly Man?
Hi doctor. My grandfather is 93. And is on following medication-1.donep 5,2. Evion 400,3. Tamdura,4. Olimelt,5.tranax 0.25.He is 93 years old and can not sense his urine urge. Also he is in partial depression and often try to hide in corners. He refuses to go inside his room and the situation has become worse since he does not eat and drink voluntarily and is fed forcibly. Also he cant walk on his own. Please suggest some cure for this kind of depression.
Your grandfather is currently on treatment for Psychosis with Benign prostate hypertrophy and Alzheimer. Not sensing the urine is could be due to Alzheimer, Psychosis; or Autonomic neuropathy (which is commonly associated with long term Diabetes mellitus, but you have not mentioned any antidiabetes drug). He is not taking any antidepressant medicine and after reviewing his symptoms it appears that he is suffering from psychosis rather than depression which could be due to age/alzheimer related degeneration of neurons of brain. Psychosis responds very late. My advice for him to adhere with current treatment. If condition not improve after taking sufficient duration of treatment or if appearance if severe side effect, then changing the current treatment after cosultation with your doctor is recommended.
