What Causes Loss Of Balance In The Leg And Swelling In The Knees?
I have been having trouble out of my left leg. I have fallen several times. Sometimes when I am walking it like i dont have a leg and i fall. A week ago it happened again. my knee is all swelled up and cant hardly bare weight. when i try to walk it feels like it is gonna go out on me again. I went to the er and they said it was not broke but put me in a leg brace till i go to the ortho. Could u please give me and idea of what it could be.
Instability is most commonly related to an issue at a joint, in this case the knee joint. The joint is composed of bone, ligaments, tendons and an area called meniscus. Instability can be due to problems with any of these areas. It would be best to have detailed imaging such as an MRI, which may be suggested by your orthopedic doctor when you see him or her.
Treatment would depend on the exact cause found. If a ligament or tendon or meniscus is torn, surgery is sometimes needed.
I hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
