What Causes Loss Of Appetite And Low Blood Pressure?

My boyfriend who is extremely depressed about a close friend dying of cancer has the following signs and symptoms that are really worrying me: complete loss of appetite, taste alteration (everything tastes bad), dizziness upon standing, nausea and vomiting, low blood pressure, tachycardia, insomnia, sweating, dehydration, sleeping all day and then insomnia and restless all night, feels like fainting. I can t get him to go the ER. Should I force it immediately? I know it s a stupid question but he is attributing everything to his depression.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello
Welcome here.
I think the treatment is required but may not be in emergency.
But you must take him to psychiatrist.
The signs and symptoms are due to stress and depression.
But dizziness, fainting and tachycardia can be due to hypotension as he is not taking food.
The insomnia would require tablet klonopin(prescription drug) which will relieve other anxiety symptoms as well.
Persuade him to take juices and water in plenty if does wish to take food to prevent weakness and hypotension.

Hope this helps.
Thanks.
