Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i am 34 weeks prgnant, have had loose stools for weeks and weeks which i have been to my local gp 3 times but always sent away with 'its just hormones?' i get nausea after i eat and not only loose stools constantly throughout the day but also pale yellow/white in colour? i am very concerned as surely this is not right?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. Pregnancy of 34 weeks is a cause that your Doctor is not interested in giving you mush medicines to safeguard the child as many drugs can affect the child. But since you have a problem of nausea and frequent loose stools for weeks you need the following: Get the stool checked as also the blood and urine. If there is an evidence of infection you will be started on a safe antibiotic and symptomatic treatment. You also need to check for the foods and beverages that cause the loose stool and should stop all these; these may be medicines that are given during pregnancy like Iron, multivitamins and so on. Check for one by one to stop and see whether this helps. Keep well hydrated. Use only boiled and cooled water. Fresh home-made foods only. Ultrasonography of the abdomen for routine and Obstetric should also be done.
