What Causes Lightheadedness While Having High Blood Pressure?
I recently was to see my dr. and she said I had high blood pressure. My reading was 173/92. I have been feeling light headed in the last week. It only lasts for a few hrs then slowly diminishes. But I don t know if this is vertigo or from my blood pressure being high.
Hi welcome to HCM. This lightheadedness in your case is strongly attributed to your elevated blood pressure. This needs to be promptly corrected to prevent complications.Drugs like Ace inhibitors and Beta Blockers are the mainstay of drugs used in the treatment of hypertension.Maintain blood pressure around 130/80 mm of Hg.Reduce the intake of salt to less than 6gm/day.Keep yourself adequately hydrated.Have a baseline ECG and 2 dimensional Echo of your heart to rule out organic heart disease.Consult your cardiologist for further help. Thank you.
