What Causes Lightheadedness And Fever After Taking Simvastatin?

My doctor just changed my high cholesterol medication simvastatin from 20mg to 40mg and since I started taking the medication I have been feeling sick, light headed, loss of appetite, feverish, just not feeling well. can this be because he increased the dose.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

I will say that the common causes of lightheadedness and dizziness include fluctuations in blood pressure (often seen in dehydration or those taking BP meds), low iron levels and low blood sugar.

I would suggest you remain adequately hydrated, are eating a well-rounded meal with proper nutrients, and attempt to make a visit with an ENT (Ear Nose and Throat Physician) if these symptoms continue.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein,
General Surgeon
