Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Each month inside the ovaries, a group of eggs starts to grow in small, fluid-filled sacs called 'follicles'. Eventually, one of the eggs erupts from the dominant follicle and gets released by the process called 'ovulation'. It usually happens about 2 weeks before your next period (by 13th day).
The egg stays in the
Fallopian tube for about 3 to 4 days. during this time, if you have intercourse, it is likely that the egg could get fertilized as this period is termed as 'fertile period'. Sperms also would stay alive in the female genital tract for about 3 days.
Within 24 hours of being fertilized, it starts dividing fast into many cells. It keeps dividing as it moves slowly through the Fallopian tube to the
uterus.
Its next thing which happens is to attach to the lining of uterus. This is called' implantation'. Implantation typically occurs 6 to 10 days after ovulation, or by day 20 to 24 of a menstrual cycle. During this time, some may experience slight bleeding or spotting termed 'implantation bleeding'.
In case that particular period gets delayed, you need to test the urine for
pregnancy as pregnancy is likely.
Period of gestation can be predicted by clinical evaluation and confirmed by means of
beta hCG level estimation in blood and by trans-
vaginal ultrasound scan (TVS).
Kindly get your urine sample tested for pregnancy and also get an ultrasound scan done. Consult Gynecologist with the report for evaluation and management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
