Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Light Red Vaginal Spotting After Passing Stools?
The past few days, I have noticed a slightly bright red spotting on my toilet paper after wiping. I don t experience any pain having a bowel movement, nor any other typical symptoms. Just the spotting. The only thing I can think of is that I recently changed from a thicker, softer toilet paper to a (cheaper) thinner and rough paper. Is this just an adjustment period or is this serious enough to see a doctor?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
If you don't have chance of an early pregnancy / white discharge with back ache / irregular periods. I feel rough toilet paper may be the cause. It can irritate the delicate genital skin to cause bruises & bleeding but it will be accompanied by burning feel in urination. In that case, you should change the toilet paper. Still better is to get a physical check up by a gynecologist to exclude / confirm above possible causes followed by needful treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
