What Causes Lethargic Feeling And Tightness In Chest?

Hi, I have regular feelings of lethargy and my chest can feel tight (especially in the mornings). I am asthmatic. The lethargy is more marked in recent months. I ve also noticed that I can wake up coughing and burping in the mornings. I am not sure whether this part is related to drinking acidic drinks like cola. Do you have any thoughts on what is the cause of these symptoms? Thanks.

Hi,

Chest tightness and early morning cough may be part of asthma symptoms- kindly discuss with your doctor to assess the need for any adjustment of inhalers. Regular use of caffeinated drinks like cola can cause gastritis / dyspepsia and lead to gastric upset, burping and retching. So it is better to have a control over that.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
