What Causes Left-sided Back Pain Along With Intense Coughing?

My husband has a deep cough and a sharp recurring pain in his left side/back, which has lasted over 2 weeks. He had an EKG, chest xray, and has been on an antibiotic for 5 (of 10) days. The pain in his side/back comes on abruptly, and is associated with the cough. Would appreciate your advice.

Hello,

Your husband is having cough with pain in the left side of back which may be muscular due to over stretching of muscles. There may be palpation of side.

To feel any other lesion and with auscultation in that side may be examined. Any finding related to it may be noted.

Local analgesic ointment like Voveran may be applied over left side of chest.

Inform about the antibiotic which you are having may be required to be changed. Rest of the treatment is alright.
