What Causes Left Sided Abdominal Pain And Unusual Stool Odor While Treating Diverticulitis?

Hi, I have been diagnosed with diverticulitis and ulcerative colitis. I have recently been having a lot of pain in my lower left hand side of my stomach and have been put on antibiotics by my GP. I have noticed over the last few days that my poop has a burnt odour and was wondering if there could be a reason for it.

Hi..Can understand your concern. As per your query, pain in left side of lower stomach is due to constipation. In diverticulitis and ulcerative colitis there is pain and inflammation of colon and pouch and ulcers are formed
at wall of colon.Due to this there is difficulty in passing stools..Moreover the antibiotics which you are taking may be causing gastritis and constipation..I suggest you to take fibre rich diet, wholesome fruits and green leafy vegetables.Avoid non veg food.Avoid white rice and gas forming foodslike cabbage, beans, refined flour etc..Isabgol husk with milk at night will be helpful. If the problem persist you should consult your GP.I hope the information helps you.Take care.
