What Causes Large Vein At The Base Of The Neck Of A Kid?
When my 2 year old son yells or cries, There is a very large vein at the base of his neck on the right side that pops out really far. It lies horizontal just above his collar bone. Is there a reason to be concerned or is this normal? It doesn t seem to bother him.

Prominent neck veins during crying of the child are quite normal.During crying intra thoracic pressure rises.As a result blood return to the heart decreases and there is pooling of blood in the neck.
