General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I have gone through the medical history of your father in law and am sorry for the situation he is in.

The blood you noticed in urine with small clots are due to trauma during the insertion of catheter.

Depending on his age, prostate problems (enlargement, cancer) should be ruled out through:
- abdominal ultrasound
- PSA level
- digital examination

Wish fast recovery!
