What Causes Lack Of Appetite While Experiencing Rancid Smell?

I am experiencing a rancid smell that no one else smells. It almost like a pungent citrus order. It s been several days. I ve asked multiple family members if they can smell it in my mouth or on my body and they cannot. It s literally making me crazy. No appetite. It s awful. No other symptoms. I am an SLE patient.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Very rarely, a patient may have something involving a certain part of the brain that might initially cause symptoms like what you describe, a strong odor that nobody else can smell. I would recommend seeing your doctor for this to get a full neurological exam and discuss getting imaging such as a CT or MRI of the brain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
