What Causes Itchy Welts With Swelling On The Face?
What would cause sporadic swelling with welts to various parts of the body that are proceeded by itching except to the face area? The areas of swelling are painful to touch and also hurt when clothing is worn over the affected areas. There is no shortness of breath or difficulty swallowing, there has been no change with any hygiene or cleaning products . Can you help?

Well, the symptoms of having painful, swollen and itchy welts on various parts of body that are painful even on wearing clothes seems to be most probably due to anaphylaxis reaction. In case if you have not changed any cleaning or hygiene products then other possible causes can be foods, medications or skin cosmetics.
It can also be due to bed bugs or mite infestation. So in order to get the confirmed cause you should get thoroughly examined by an Allergist and get evaluated. Certain investigations like RAST Test, Food Challenge Test can help in diagnosis and treatment will be done accordingly.
As of now you can take antihistamines like Allegra or Benadryl and a steroid shot after consulting a local physician. Apply Calamine lotion and also do cool compresses over the hives.
