Hi, to start things off. My name is Sophie. I m 11 years old and yesterday, I felt itchy, and some areas were red. Also, I had some hives on my face. This morning, my hands swelled up and not so long ago, a part of Tech swelling on my middle finger hardened. Yes, it hardened. The middle portion of my middle finger is pooped up/swelled and hard.

Greetings from the Health care magic members.
Dear Miss Sophie,
I can understand your query and concern. First of all it is important to find out the cause of this problem. There are many conditions associated with hives on face and swelling in fingers and foot. It may happen due to an allergic reaction to some food (such as eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, milk products, berries, wheat, soy), some lotions, creams, soaps, shampoos, sunlight, insect stings, insect bites, sudden change in temperature, drug allergy, contact dermatitis etc. Most of the time, hives usually go away within few hours to a couple of days. However, there are chronic cases that last longer than 6 weeks and some cases are severe enough to call an emergency.

Hence, i would recommend you to consult your dermatologist in order to rule out the cause of your allergic reaction by doing allergen test. Once you know the cause, you can easily avoid the allergen/trigger.
You can also list all the food items you have eaten in the last two days as well as any medications, soaps or lotions that you have used or any change in stress level. Later, discuss in detail with dermatologist to find out the reason. Also ask for some topical cream/lotion for the relief of existing itchiness. Most of the time, they prescribe over the counter medication to eliminate hives but sometimes they give steroids drugs. Always remember to tell the doctor about your medical history so that you will be given an appropriate medication.
I hope that this answer your question. For any other query, please do no hesitate to ask me here.
